A new Covid variant that sparked panic may be less infectious and deadly than previously feared.
BA.2.86 — or ‘Pirola’ — was feared to have mutated to infect vaccinated and recently infected people with ease, prompting warnings from US and global health agencies.
Those fears spooked several colleges and businesses into bringing back mask mandates, while health officials in New York encouraged people to don face coverings over Labor Day weekend.
But early results from lab tests carried out in the US, Sweden and China suggest that these warnings may have been overblown and that this variant may actually be ‘another scariant’ and ‘not the second coming of Omicron’.
The tests found that antibodies from vaccinated people and those who had recovered from an infection within the last six months were just as effective against BA.2.86 — enabling them to stop infection — as they were with other variants.
Chinese researchers also found BA.2.86 was about 60 percent less infectious than XBB.1.15 — the variant that was dominant in the US until EG.5, or Eris, emerged — which they said may explain why it is only being detected at low levels.
Scientists warned that while immunity from previous infections or vaccinations won’t stop people catching the virus, tests suggest they are not more likely to suffer a severe infection.
Dr Dan Barouch, a virologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in New York who was behind one of the lab tests, told CNN that he initially didn’t believe the results, and asked his team to conduct the tests again.
But, when the results came back the same, Dr Barouch said he was confident that this variant did not pose the risk that was first feared.
He said: ‘It was not exactly what I was expecting.
‘[But] now they’ve been repeated, and so now we’re confident about them.’
‘Two independent labs have basically shown that BA.2.86 essentially is not a further immune escape compared with current variants.’
He also referred to BA.2.86 as a ‘scariant’.
Experts initially feared BA.2.86 would spark a fresh wave of infections because it had more than 35 mutations compared to its next closest ancestors.
This was an evolutionary leap comparable to when Omicron first emerged, they said, suggesting it would be better able to trigger infections.

As if the Covid Scamdemic couldn’t get any more absurd, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC is now admitting that the failed Covid “vaccine” causes those to receive it to be more susceptible to infection than someone who is unvaccinated – just as the Biden Regime is seemingly prepping for another authoritarian lockdown and booster rollout with the arrival of the new election BA.2.86 Covid variant, no less.
Curious timing.
According to the CDC’s ‘Risk Assessment Summary for SARS CoV-2 Sublineage BA.2.86‘ that was published late last month, the new variant “may be more capable of causing infection in people who have previously had COVID-19 or who have received COVID-19 vaccines.” In other words, the experimental gene therapy jabs have done nothing but cause problems for those who have taken it, including, but not limited to, sudden death, blood clots, heart complications, and now increased risk of infection – as confirmed by the very organization that called the very same notion ‘disinformation’ just a few months ago.
Now we just need them to acknowledge the rest of the issues that have been caused by the jab.
Despite the transmission admission, the CDC shamelessly added that the new vaccines coming this month will definitely do their job – just like the first, and second, and third, and so on shots that came before. As the agency puts it, “this updated vaccine will be effective at reducing severe disease and hospitalization.”
They can’t be serious. This is despite the fact that, by their own admission, “scientists are [still] evaluating the effectiveness of the forthcoming, updated COVID-19 vaccine.” No surprise – this round is being rushed to market without proper testing too.
