Beleaguered RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel is reportedly intending to step down. Donald Trump, who has been vocal about the need for changes at the RNC, is likely to back Michael Watley, who currently heads the North Carolina GOP.

McDaniel told Trump she was planning to step down in advance of South Carolina’s Republican primary on February 24, The New York Times reports. That contest will see Nikki Haley face off against Trump in her home state. An election will have to be held for the new chair.

McDaniels has been under pressure for months to step down after she failed to deliver the promised red wave in 2022. Recent reports about the RNC’s excessive spending also came out, putting further pressure on her to step down.

Her chief of staff stepped down earlier on Tuesday. “I know the timing of this news comes as many rumors in the press swirl and we prepare to merge with the presumptive nominee. I assure you, the RNC is in an incredibly strong position,” Mike Reed said. He will also be stepping down later this month.

This news comes after Trump and McDaniel met together at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago on Monday. After that meeting, it was reported that changes would be coming to the RNC. He posted after that meeting that McDaniel was “now Head of the RNC, and I’ll be making a decision the day after the South Carolina Primary as to my recommendations for RNC Growth.”

More than 1 MILLION migrants have illegally entered U.S. since October: Crossings hit break-neck speed as Republicans spectacularly fail to pass border bill AND impeach Mayorkas and urge Biden to unilaterally take action

More than 1 MILLION migrants have illegally entered U.S. since October

A new record high number of migrants crossed the border since October, as Republicans chaos killed a deal on border security and ended an effort to impeach DHS Secretary Mayorkas.

A new record high number of migrants crossed the border since October, according to a new report on Wednesday, as Republicans chaos killed a deal on border security and ended an effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has tracked over 1 million migrant encounters since fiscal year 2024 began, a CBP source told Fox News, the earliest this mark has ever been reached.

The number is about 100,000 higher than the same period last year and is the earliest the U.S. has ever reached the 1 million encounter mark.

Meanwhile, a long-negotiated $118 billion package with border enforcement measures collapsed this week after Republicans rejected it due to infighting. And House Republicans failed spectacularly in their effort to impeach Mayorkas.

Republicans’ efforts to use the border against President Joe Biden are rapidly turning into a farce and the president is moving to hit the GOP on an issue that has dogged his administration since day one.

The CBP encountered over 37,000 Chinese migrants last year, but they have already encountered nearly 20,000 since October. The CBP told Fox News they have encountered roughly 150 Chinese migrants per day this fiscal year.

Security on the southern border has become a political hot potato and is tracking to be a major issue in the 2024 presidential campaign.

Biden vowed to take the issue on the road – campaigning on an issue that has been a political weakness – and accused Republicans of going back on their long-voiced demands to gain control of the border.
