On Thursday, defense attorney and FBI official Caroline Polisi told MSNBC that she believed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis will likely be “disqualified” from overseeing Donald Trump’s Georgia election interference case due to her improper relationship with lead prosecutor Nathan Wade.
Polisi’s remarks came after one of Willis’ ex-colleagues, Robin Yearti, testified under oath that the DA and Wade’s relationship began in 2019 and was “romantic” in nature, but before Wade had a chance to speak.
“Don’t let the legalese fool you,” Polisi began. “This is epic. This is monumental. If things are going in the direction we think, Fani Willis lied to the court; it’s game over for her.”
She went on to suggest that Willis “will be disqualified, saying that if she and Wade “had a relationship prior to when they represented truth to the court, it’s a huge deal.”
“This has been a bombshell,” Polisi said of the affair saga. “Huge huge issues here … This is not about a relationship between two consenting adults, this has nothing to do with that; it’s about lying to the court, it’s about potential financial gain on the part of Fani Willis.”
“Her credibility is shot,” Polisi added. “If she lied to the court, she submitted something to the court that she knew was false and inaccurate, what else was she lying about? It’s a horrible horrible look for her. I think this case is dead in the water.”
