“Will you provide the 17 recordings so we can assess what is the evidence, the specific credible evidence, that Joe Biden personally took a $5 million bribe from a foreign national?”
FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate stonewalled Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) during Tuesday’s Judiciary Committee hearing about if the bureau possesses the alleged 17 recordings between a Burisma Holdings executive and President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.
On Tuesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed the Burisma executive who allegedly paid Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden $5 million each kept 17 audio recordings of his conversations of them as an “insurance policy.”
“Do you have the 17 recordings? Yes or no?” Cruz drilled Abbate.
“I’m not going to get further into that,” he replied after admitting the FBI possesses a form that alleges the 17 recordings.
“That’s the problem the FBI has right now, an unlimited hubris that you believe you are unaccountable,” Cruz slammed the FBI agent. “You don’t believe you’re accountable to the United States Congress, and you don’t believe you’re accountable to the American people.”
“You’re sitting there happily erecting a wall to protect Joe Biden,” he added.
Cruz again pressed Abbate to disclose the alleged audio recordings. “Will you provide the 17 recordings so we can assess what is the evidence, the specific credible evidence, that Joe Biden personally took a $5 million bribe from a foreign national?”
“Senator, we will work with this committee, you, and other members to provide the information within the parameters of the process,” Abbate said, providing an indefinite answer.
Cruz also noted that if Joe Biden wanted to disprove the allegations, he could call for the release of the unclassified FBI informant form.
“And to be clear, if the allegations are false, you know who could disprove them?” Cruz rhetorically asked. “Joe Biden.”
“He could call for this to be released publicly. But the FBI is stonewalling. Would you agree?” Cruz questioned.
“Senator, no one’s stonewalling,” Abbate claimed.
Senator Hawley Grills FBI Deputy Director On Agency’s Baseless Monitoring Of Americans, Biden’s Alleged Bribery Scheme
“Why would we ever give you the blank check that you want…given your track record of abuse and illegal and improper surveillance and political targeting? Why would we ever do that”
SEN. JOSH HAWLEY: You just started to answer Sen. Blackburn’s question that not releasing the 10-23 or talking about it is a matter of life and death, a “question of life and death,” you said. Explain. For whom?
FBI DEPUTY DIRECTOR ABBATE: It is potentially a question of life and death with regard to the source of the information.
HAWLEY: So no we’ve confirmed that the document exists, that’a progress because the FBI director originally denied that it exists. Why did he do that?
ABBATE: We have already and previously acknowledged the existence of the document.
HAWLEY: Yeah, after you first denied it. When a member of this committee read it. Let’s get the record straight, the FBI director originally said it doesn’t exist. Then Sen. Grassley said he’s read it. Then he said, “Oh, OK, gotcha, I guess it does exist.” Now you’re going back and forth ith members of this committee about what’s in it. Why don’t you just release it? Is it classified?
ABBATE: The document is not classified.
HAWLEY: OK. How about just a yes or no? Will you commit to releasing this unclassified document that alleges that the President Of the United States has taken $5 million or more in bribes from a foreign nation?
ABBATE: The document has already been released pursuant to a subpoena to the House OVersight Committee–
HAWLEY: Well, how about to this committee?
ABBATE: We will work with this committee within the parameters that are established.
HAWLEY: Will you release the document to the public? It’s unclassified. Don’t you think the American people have the right to see it?
ABBATE: Senator, the document, as you know, contains sensitive information that has bearing on the life of the source of the information, potentially.
HAWLEY: You can redact the source’s name, we do this all the time.
ABBATE: In some instances, senator, I know you know this, that is not sufficient to protect people. And that’s what we strive to do each and every day, and I would hope you take that seriously too.
HAWLEY: Oh I take it very seriously, but I also take seriously the fact that your institution has repeatedly abused its authority.
BEASTMODE: Kevin McCarthy Exposes CNN for Hiring FBI Leaker
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) slammed CNN in an exchange with one of the network’s reporters Monday. After the reporter pressed McCarthy to defend former president Donald Trump on his charges of illegally retaining classified documents, McCarthy turned the tables, asking why her network decided to hire former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe as a commentator even after he came under investigation for leaking information to the media.
“Even though your network can hire Andrew McCabe, who was fired from the FBI for leaking classified documents, did you remove him from your network?” McCarthy asked. “No, you continued to put him on to give judgment against President Trump.”
