Kamala Harris insists she is ‘ready to serve’ as growing voter concerns about Joe Biden’s age and cognitive decline impact his re-election bid

Kamala Harris insists she is ‘ready to serve’ as president

Vice President Kamala Harris declared she is ‘ready to serve’ if President Joe Biden is unable to perform his duties as president as questions swirl around his declining cognitive abilities.

  • The vice president tried to reassure skeptics about her ability to serve as the president of the United States
  • ‘I am ready to serve. There’s no question about that,’ she said
  • Questions about President Joe Biden’s age and health continue as a wide majority of voters cite it as a concern in the 2024 election

Vice President Kamala Harris declared she is ‘ready to serve’ if President Joe Biden is unable to perform his duties as president as questions swirl around his declining cognitive abilities.

Her remarks come after a recent NBC poll showed that 62 percent of voters cited ‘major concerns’ about Biden’s mental and physical health.

And last week, Special Counsel Robert Hur described the president as an ‘elderly man with a poor memory’ in a scathing report on the president’s mishandling of classified documents.

‘I am ready to serve. There’s no question about that,’ Harris, 59, stated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal when asked about the 81-year-old president’s age.

Harris added that anyone who watched her in her current role as vice president ‘walks away fully aware of my capacity to lead.’

But her comments come as she seeks to reassure skeptics that she can handle her role.

The vice president has continued struggling to demonstrate her competence after a series of political missteps and awkward moments during her first three years.

Harris’ approval ratings are even lower than Biden’s, with a recent NBC News poll showing her at only 28 percent approval.

She has largely abandoned her responsibilities for the border crises and root causes of migration, choosing instead to blame Congress for failing to pass immigration reform.

Axios reported Monday that Biden’s team was disappointed in her performance on the border issue, with one former White House senior aide describing her as ‘at best ineffective.’

Harris also routinely faces ridicule for her awkward ‘word salad’ speeches that frequently spiral out of control, burdened by a host of dependent clauses.

Harris faces even more scrutiny as Biden frequently demonstrates signs of physical and mental decline.

The president routinely struggles to remember details of events, names of people, and details of stories he used to recall easily during public remarks.

Americans are also increasingly concerned about Biden following a scathing report from Special Counsel Robert Hur, in which he described the president as an ‘elderly man with a poor memory.’

Harris turned down a request from Biden’s team to appear on a Sunday news show to defend the president, the Wall Street Journal reported, choosing instead to answer a question from a reporter after her event in Washington, D.C.

Harris purposefully denounced the report during public comments.
