The former president said he immediately felt the bullet ‘ripping through my skin’ in a statement from hospital just hours after the terrifying scene unfolded.
The 77-year-old was dragged off stage by Secret Service with blood covering his face and then pumped his face and shouted ‘fight, fight, fight’ after gunfire rang out in front of thousands of MAGA fans.
The gunman and a member of the crowd were killed and two others were taken to hospital in a critical condition after the shooting at 6.15pm on Saturday night.
The suspect fired at least eight shots from outside the security perimeter of the rally after witnesses said they say a man with a rifle bear crawling on a roof.
‘I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening,’ the former president wrote on his Truth Social account.

Trump was rushed to a hospital after shots were heard at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, leaving one spectator dead.

The shots rang out shortly after Trump started to address the crowd in the critical battleground state.
In the moments after the shooting, voices could be heard screaming as Secret Service agents pushed Trump to the floor and covered him.
The 45th president was seen with blood coming from his ear.
Seconds later, the blood-covered lawmaker pumped his fist in the air to indicate that he was fine, while surrounded by Secret Service agents, before being led away.

White House downplays Trump assassination attempt as an ‘incident’
The White House on Saturday did not initially refer to the shooting at a Trump rally that left the former president bloodied as an assassination attempt, downplaying it as an “incident.”
“The President has received an initial briefing on the incident at Former President Trump’s rally,” the White House said in a statement.
President Biden, who was leaving church in Rehoboth Beach, Del., responded, “No,” when asked by reporters shortly after the Butler, Pa., shooting if he had been briefed.
More than an hour later, the 81-year-old president released a statement on the shooting, and said he was “praying” for Trump and his family.
“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information,” Biden said.
“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it,” he added.
A Trump operative told The Post that Biden’s election rhetoric — including tweeting hours before the rally that Trump would be “a dictator” — created a “dangerous” political environment.
“Joe Biden and his Democrat goons need to stop it with the dangerous and false rhetoric that democracy will end if President Trump wins the election. Their lies have consequences,” the operative said.
