Concerns are mounting among top Republicans that the California Primary Election is hopelessly rigged and what seemed like sure victories are slipping away from key GOP candidates.
The final results are delayed because millions of mail-in and vote harvested ballots are still being processed, a procedure that can take weeks under California law.
Republican Steve Hilton is currently holding a narrow 2-point lead (27.57 percent to 25.57 percent) against Democrat machine politician Xavier Becerra in the California gubernatorial primary race, with only 56 percent of votes reported as of Thursday morning.
Left-wing billionaire Tom Steyer currently trails in third place with 20 percent, but that is expected to change as millions more ballots are counted.
In the Los Angeles mayoral race, incumbent Karen Bass has secured a spot in the November runoff with 35 percent of the vote, while reality TV star Spencer Pratt currently holds second place with 30 percent. Woke LA city councilmember Nithya Raman has surged to 23 percent, and the betting markets now favor her to overtake Pratt as more Dem harvested votes are counted.
The remaining uncounted ballots are expected to lean heavily Democrat and alter the current margins in both races.
Back in March, paid activists on Skid Row in Los Angeles were caught on hidden camera illegally offering cash, cigarettes, and marijuana to homeless people in exchange for voter registrations.
Under California election law, it should be noted, poll workers are generally prohibited from asking voters for identification.
Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D.) signed Senate Bill 73 on May 27, 2026, explicitly prohibiting election observers from challenging voter signatures on mail-in ballots, purportedly to protect the state’s sketchy election processes from “interference and intimidation.”
A longtime Justice Department prosecutor known as “ShipWreckedCrew” on social media, explained on X what he thinks is currently unfolding in California.
“There will be ‘dumps’ of ‘harvested votes’ from all over LA County coming in over the next couple days. These were collected by Dem. Party operatives and delivered Tuesday,” he wrote.
Because they were only collecting ballots from registered Dems, they will be 90 percent+ for Bass or Ramen, and almost zero for Pratt. That will happen over the next 2-3 days.
THEN we’ll find out there are tens of thousands of mail-in ballots set aside by election officials because of some defect. Those voters will be contacted and told they have 22 days to ‘cure’ their ballot problem.
When cured, thousands of more votes will be added to the the totals. Since the Dems have a much higher percentage of mail-in ballots, most of the ballots that need to be “cured” will be votes for Baas or Ramen—not Pratt..
“The Dumocrats are at it again!” President Trump complained on Truth Social, Wednesday. “They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES. Here we go with the very late and massive numbers of MAIL IN BALLOTS.”
The president declared in a subsequent post that there’s “BIG cheating by the Dumocrats in California” and that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles is investigating the state’s inefficient election procedures.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) also weighed in on X, Wednesday, accusing state officials of “dumping votes.”
“Odds are shifting because the vote dumps always seem to go one way. Count until you get the result you want?” DeSantis wrote.
In a follow-up post, the governor compared California’s corrupt system with his own state’s efficiently run election apparatus.
“Florida processes more than 10 million votes in a matter of hours,” DeSantis wrote. “California takes days — or sometimes even weeks — to count the votes. It’s pathetic — and it’s corrosive to our civic culture.”
George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley commented on the sad state of affairs, posting on X: “California’s inability to confirm the outcome of an election for weeks speaks volumes about the low expectations of citizens on the performance of their government in basic functions.”
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk vouched for the county’s election integrity on X, and posted a link to a livestream of the processing center where election workers are counting potentially fraudulent mail-in and harvested votes.
“Every single ballot and batch of ballots undergoes multiple levels of chain-of-custody and security processes,” the County Clerk insisted. “Also, you’re welcome to visit our Ballot Processing Center and observe this in action.”
The LA County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk is Dean C. Logan, who previously served as an elected Democrat County Clerk in Washington state, where he played a key role in the rigged 2004 Washington gubernatorial election.
Republican Dino Rossi had initially won that election by 261 votes and that result held up after a recount.
A month later, as Rossi was preparing to take office, Logan announced that he had found 561–573 previously uncounted ballots, which flipped the election to Democrat Christine Gregoire.
Subsequent lawsuits revealed that on the third recount, the Democrats counted “300 illegal votes, 400 where the voter could not be verified, 240 felons who voted illegally, 44 votes from dead people, and 10 people who voted twice.”
Shortly after taking office, Gregoire signed a bill to install “all-mail voting” as a permanent option for all Washington counties.
Since this shift in 2005, no Republican Gubernatorial, or Senatorial candidate has won an election and the split in representatives has shifted from 55 percent Democrat to 80 percent Democrat.
In July 2008, the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to appoint Logan as LA County’s registrar-recorder, despite protests from election integrity activists.
