European leaders insist they will ‘not stop defending’ Nato borders
Europe’s leaders boldly confronted Donald Trump on Tuesday night after his administration threatened to use the US military to seize Greenland.
A joint statement from leaders including Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy vowed to defend Greenland’s ‘territorial integrity’ – following days of escalating tensions between the US and NATO ally Denmark.
It comes as Trump and his top advisers explore plans including purchasing the Danish territory or taking charge of its defense, according to a senior administration official.
The White House said that ‘utilising the US military is always an option’ and warned the issue is ‘not going away’ despite the protests of NATO leaders.
The statement has dismayed America’s NATO allies, who have rallied around Denmark in recent days as Trump renews his threats to invade Greenland after the capture of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.
In a public statement, seven leaders – from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and Denmark – declared they will ‘not stop defending’ Greenland despite the threats.
They called America an ‘essential partner’ and reiterated that the US and Denmark signed a defense agreement in 1951.
‘Greenland belongs to its people. It is for Denmark and Greenland, and them only, to decide on matters concerning Denmark and Greenland,’ they said.

Trump has argued that the US needs to control the island, which is more than three times the size of Texas, to ensure NATO security against rising threats from China and Russia in the Arctic.
He hinted on Sunday that a decision on Greenland may come ‘in about two months,’ once the situation in Venezuela has stabilised.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday: ‘President Trump has made it well known that acquiring Greenland is a national security priority of the United States, and it’s vital to deter our adversaries in the Arctic region.
Increasing international tensions, global warming and the changing world economy have put Greenland at the heart of the debate over global trade and security.
The island, 80 per cent of which lies above the Arctic Circle, is home to about 56,000 mostly Inuit people who until now have been largely ignored by the rest of the world.
Its location off the northeastern coast of Canada made it crucial to the defense of North America during World War II, when the US occupied Greenland.
Following the Cold War, the Arctic was largely an area of international cooperation.
But the Arctic ice is thinning, promising to create a northwest passage for international trade and reigniting competition with Russia, China and other countries over access to the region’s mineral resources.
In 2018, China declared itself a ‘near-Arctic state’ in an effort to gain more influence in the region.
China has also announced plans to build a ‘Polar Silk Road’ as part of its global Belt and Road Initiative, which has created economic links with countries around the world.
Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo rejected China’s move, saying: ‘Do we want the Arctic Ocean to transform into a new South China Sea, fraught with militarisation and competing territorial claims?’
Meanwhile, Russia has sought to assert its influence over wide areas of the Arctic in competition with the US, Canada, Denmark and Norway.
Moscow has also sought to boost its military presence in the polar region, home to its Northern Fleet and a site where the Soviet Union tested nuclear weapons. Russian military officials have said that the site is ready for resuming the tests, if necessary.
The Russian military in recent years has been restoring old Soviet infrastructure in the Arctic and building new facilities. Since 2014, the Russian military has opened several military bases in the Arctic and worked on reconstructing airfields.
European leaders’ concerns were heightened following Russia´s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said last year that Russia is worried about NATO’s activities in the Arctic and will respond by strengthening the capability of its armed forces there.
‘Russia has never threatened anyone in the Arctic, but we will closely follow the developments and mount an appropriate response by increasing our military capability and modernising military infrastructure,’ Putin said in March at a policy forum in the Arctic port of Murmansk.
He added, however, that Moscow was holding the door open to broader international cooperation in the region.
The US Department of Defense operates the remote Pituffik Space Base in northwestern Greenland, which was built after the U.S. and Denmark signed the Defense of Greenland Treaty in 1951.
It supports missile warning, missile defense and space surveillance operations for the US and NATO.

CMS Chief Dr. Oz Confirms SNAP and Medicaid Are Being Weaponized for Massive Voter Fraud in Blue States — Illegal Aliens Get Ballot Access, Stealing Elections!
In a bombshell interview with Laura Ingraham, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz laid bare a systemic, government-enabled pipeline in Democrat-run states that links taxpayer-funded welfare enrollment to voter registration.
According to Dr. Oz, federal laws tying voter registration to welfare programs like Medicaid and SNAP are being exploited to register illegal aliens or non-citizens, effectively stealing elections by building partisan voter bases.
Dr. Oz specifically pointed to Minnesota as a prime example of how the system is being exploited, accusing state officials of making it ‘easy for fraudsters to make out like bandits.’
According to Oz, lax oversight has allowed massive abuse of Medicaid dollars, money that should be reserved for the disabled, children with autism, and families genuinely in need.
Under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) frameworks, enrolling migrants into expansive welfare programs in sanctuary-style states also triggers voter registration mechanisms.
Enacted in 1993, the NVRA was designed to expand voter registration access by mandating that various state offices serve as voter registration agencies.
Section 7 requires states to offer voter registration opportunities at all offices that provide public assistance, including those administering programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Under Section 7, state agencies are federally mandated to provide a voter registration application with each application for assistance, as well as during every recertification, renewal, or change of address.
This creates a welfare-to-ballot pipeline, effectively allowing left-wing political machines to harvest votes while draining federal resources.
Dr. Oz:
“Well, these fraudsters—and you’re right—Minnesota NICE made it easy for them to make out like bandits. But let me share something with you that I learned recently.By federal law, if you sign someone up for Medicaid, you also give them the right to vote. Ironically, it’s true for SNAP as well. As you give out social services, you also get them registered to vote. You’re building up a very partisan group of individuals.
This is political patronage at the expense of Medicaid. The criminal part here is not just the horrible waste, fraud, and abuse of our federal tax dollars, but that you’re taking money from our most vulnerable citizens.
If you’re lying about the fact that you have Somalian kids pretending to be autistic, that takes services away from kids who truly have autism. You’re trying to make money off an illness that is already a significant challenge, and you’re penalizing our most vulnerable.
This President and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Bobby Kennedy, will not tolerate this. We’re aggressively going after fraud. Jim O’Neill and I are pursuing this aggressively.”
Regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins revealed that her department has already uncovered massive fraud within the SNAP and that 21 Democrat-led states are actively blocking efforts to expose it.
“On my first day [USDA], we told every state to send us their SNAP data so we could make sure illegal immigrants aren’t getting benefits meant for American families. 29 states stepped up. 21 blue states refused, and two SUED US FOR ASKING! And guess what? In just the states that cooperated, we’ve already uncovered massive fraud,” Rollins wrote.
“The Democrat Party has turned its back on working Americans and built its entire strategy around protecting illegal aliens. They know if the handouts stop, those illegals will go back home, and Democrats will lose 20+ seats after the next census. There’s a new sheriff in town. [POTUS] will not tolerate waste, fraud, or abuse while hardworking Americans go hungry.”
Rollins accused the Biden White House of ‘buying votes’ through welfare expansion, suggesting that Democrats have turned federal aid into a political weapon.
Rollins said her team has reviewed $100 billion in SNAP spending and already identified widespread abuse and criminal activity.
